Chicago: the sights

Every year, Kern's mom, Jody, attends the National Restaurant Association's Food Show in Chicago for her job.  This year, Kern and I got invited to attend--you can be we accepted the invitation faster than you can say "Free samples!"

We landed in Chicago early on a Friday morning and spent the first day getting oriented to the city.

I plan to spread out the trip photos over the next few days to give an idea of our experience.  We had such a good time--this was my first time to visit Chicago.

Huge statue of Marilyn Monroe (they disassembled it a few days later and it moved it to a new location!)

The fog was everywhere!  Then we would turn a corner and it would be sunny and warm.  It reminds me of my favorite poem from second grade:

The fog comes
on little cat feet.

It sits looking
over harbor and city
on silent haunches
and then moves on.

Carl Sandburg, 1878-1967

My second grade teacher would be proud.
